#FMF was a contribution to the 9th Annual Drama for Life Africa Research Conference, which addressed the topic of decolonisation of arts education with reference to the implications of the Fallist Movement. The conference aimed to investigate what it is that we – students, staff and practitioners – can contribute to the realisation of a democratic education that respects and embraces the praxis of freedom, equality, dignity, inclusivity and multiplicity. #FMF involved creating a collage-based sculpture from found objects including those found at the aftermath of the Fees Must Fall protests earlier in 2016. The sculpture was then exhibited at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, which opened up the work for public interaction and discussion. Shortly after the the installation was placed and the recording started, students proceeded to write into the work using chalk. Conversations with peers and staff around them generated, forming a temporal opening of dialogue between site, institution, and visions for the future.
